The High Energy Ball Mill Emax combines high-frequency impact, intensive friction, and controlled circular jar movements to a unique and highly effective size reduction mechanism. The grinding jars have an oval shape and are mounted on two discs respectively which move the jars on a circular course without changing their orientation.
The High Energy Ball Mill E max and MM 500 were developed for grinding with the highest energy input. The innovative design of both, the mills and the grinding jars, allows for continuous grinding down to the nano range in the shortest amount of time - with only minor warming effects. These ball mills are also suitable for mechano chemistry.
AbstractPhase transformation of monoclinic ZrO2 to tetragonal and cubic ZrO2 was successfully performed during ball milling. X-ray diffraction and high temperature in situ X-ray diffraction were performed to study the progressing of this transformation. Quantity phase analysis, crystallite size and microstrain were calculated by the Rietveld refinement method.
The HSA High Speed Attritor is generally used in a continuous mode. The material is charged into the mill at the top and is discharged out the bottom side, making use of centrifugal force. The HSA is used when smaller particle size (generally 40 mesh) materials are fed into the machine and micron size end product is desired.
SILICON CARBIDE BALLS Silicon Carbide Balls are very high-cost grinding media that are used for milling same materials (silicon carbide ball to mill silicon carbide materials) to avoid contamination. They are only available in 5mm,10mm, 15mm and 20mm sizes. They are a special order item.
Abstract. This is a first systematic report on the synthesis of completely nanocrystalline metals by high-energy deformation processes. Pure metals with body-centered cubic (bcc) and hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structures are subjected to ball milling, resulting in a decrease of the average grain size to ≈9 nm for metals with bcc and to ≈13 nm for metals with hcp crystal structures.

Emax - High Energy Ball Mill - Retsch. The high energy input is a result of an unrivaled speed of 2000 min-1 and the optimized jar design. Thanks to the revolutionary cooling system with water, the high energy input is effectively used for the grinding process without overheating the sample.
The impact energy of the milling balls in the normal direction attains a value of up to 40 times higher than that due to gravitational acceleration. Hence, the planetary ball mill can be used for high-speed milling. Schematic view of motion of the ball and powder mixture.
High-energy ball milling A ball mill, a type of grinder, is a cylindrical device used in grinding (or mixing) materials like ores, chemicals, ceramic raw materials and paints. Ball mills rotate around a horizontal axis, partially filled with the material to be ground plus the grinding medium.
